Intro Page Text
Dear Soccer Fan:
What is an offside violation, the Advantage Rule, and when the ball hits
your hand - is it a foul?
As a player, mom, and coach, I have attended many games where these
rules, and many others are clearly misunderstood.
You will find the answer to these questions and more in The Flippin' Soccer
Guide.
Its unique tab design, concise explanations, and color graphics
make it simple to use.
Although not a substitute for the official "rule book," I am confident this
comprehensive soccer guide is the perfect companion for players, parents
and spectators. Take it to practice and games. Use it as a tool to better
play, watch, and enjoy the sport of soccer.

Goal Kick Page Text
A Goal Kick is the way to restart play after the ball passes
over the goal line (no goal scored) and is last touched by an
attacking player (your opponent).
If last touched by your own defending player or keeper, it is a Corner Kick.
(See "Corner Kick" tab)
The kick is taken at any point within their own Goal Area "The Little Box" by the defending team.
The kick may be taken by
any player from the defending team. The ball is not in play until it
leaves the Penalty Area,"The BIG
Box."
This means that once the ball is kicked, no player from
either
team
may play it until it leaves the Penalty Area. If someone does play it in
the
Penalty Area, the kick is simply retaken.
The opponents must remain outside the Penalty Area, "The Big Box,"
until the ball is in play. Defenders may stay inside or outside the Penalty
Area.
The kicker may not play the ball a second time until it is touched
by another player. If the second touch by the initial kicker is
outside the Penalty Area, an "Indirect Free Kick", is awarded to
the opponent at the spot of the second touch.
A goal may be scored directly from a Goal Kick, but only against the opposing team.
Throw in Page Text
Law 15 - Throw-ins
When the ball goes out of bounds on the side line, a throw-in is awarded
to the team that did not touch the ball last. Any player, from the team
that did not touch the ball last, may throw the ball in.
The thrower must:
Have both feet on the ground and both feet on or
behind
If the thrown ball does not enter the Field of Play, the throw-in is
retaken by the same team.
The thrower may not play the ball again until it has touched another
player. Violation will result in an Indirect Free Kick to the opponent.
The penalty for an illegal throw-in is that your team loses the ball &
the other team gets to take the throw-in from the same spot.
It is not a violation of the Offside Rule if you are in an Offside Position
and you
receive the ball directly
from the throw-in. Otherwise make
sure there are 2 defenders between you and goal (see "Offside" tab).
A goal may not be scored
directly on a throw-in. It must touch
another player first.
An opponent may stand as close to the thrower as they want,
however, if an opponent unfairly distracts or
impedes the thrower,
he is guilty of unsporting behavior and may be given a yellow card.
